Local artist and Green Gallery owner John Riepenhoff has procured an old vending machine and has retrofitted it to hold postcards. The postcards inside the machine will have photographs of Milwaukee by ten different artists. People can view the photographs through the display window and for 25 cents apiece buy them. The images will be of places in Milwaukee that don’t usually attract attention. Riepenhoff says, “My goal is to create city and neighborhood pride and awareness.”

“Local Accents” by Madison artist Melanie Kehoss. Kehoss, with the help of IN:SITE and the HNI, contacted homeowners. She visited people’s residences and took pictures of decorative architectural elements. She used these drawings to make stencils. Ten IN:SITE volunteers will use spray chalk and her stencils to create architectural patterns on the park paths in approximately 6’ circles. There will be seven circles of patterns on the path, including at all three entrance areas on Locust Street.

A second project, "Step it up Milwaukee," is installed in Sherman Park near the bus stop at Chambers and Sherman Boulevard by senior Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design student, Cari Enot. It consists of an interactive trashcan to study and experience public awareness of the connection between waste, consumerism, and the after-effects on the environment. Enot developed the can as "a call for action to pick up litter in the local community."
